KC Urban Core

Royals, Chiefs, art, barbecue, fountains, 3125 WYANDOTTE! That’s right – we’re talkin’ ‘bout Kansas City, baby. If you’re a  KC newbie, just visiting, or you if were born and raised (or maybe just conceived) here, you might know about the oodles of KC restaurants that are almost as savory, sweet, and as spicy as you are.

But… chances are you may not know about ALL the delicious eats and fun things in KC. We believe it’s our job to fix that… because food is almost as important to us as singing naked in the shower with a Zum Bar microphone.  So we’re making this super easy – we’ve planned out an entire day in Kansas City for you!

8:00 AM – Wake up. Realize you need your morning pick-me-up, so skip on over to Mildred’s Coffeehouse and get a Cappuccino and Quickie of the Day (Did we say Quickie? We meant Quiche).
1821 Wyandotte Street

10:00 AM – Next, you’ve gotta hit up Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. It’s a KC staple! You might find your breakfast settles even better while looking at beautiful artwork. Although some exhibitions are ticketed, Museum admission is FREE! Check before you schedule your trip because Nelson-Atkins is open certain days of the week.
4525 Oak Street

12:30 PM – People are looking at you funny because your stomach is making noises louder than an October Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium. It’s time to make your mid-day food baby at Ponak’s Mexican Kitchen.
2856 Southwest Boulevard

2:30 PM – We know decisions are hard to make when you have a full stomach, but we’re giving you some afternoon delight options to choose from!

Boulevard Brewing Company
If you’re a beer-guzzler, Boulevard Brewing Co. offers free daily tours of the facility, and Sunday through Friday they have their popular Smokestack Tour & Tasting. Private tours are also available. P.S. You need to wear closed-toe shoes!
2501 Southwest Blvd

Amigoni Urban Winery
Wine = WIN. Especially at Amigoni. $6 Wine Tastings are available without reservation, and private tastings, tours and tastings, and blending classes are available if you schedule ahead!
1505 Genessee Suite 100

Blue Gallery
An amazing destination for our contemporary art lovers! Many artists and exhibitions are featured at Blue  Gallery. Your eyes are sure to be pleased!
118 Southwest Boulevard

4:30 PM – Ever heard the term “treat yo’self?” ‘Cause that’s what you’re about to do at Crown Center. Shopping, theatres, ice skating, and other family events (like Sea Life Aquarium), you can easily treat yourself all afternoon! Crown Center has lots of seasonal events too!
2450 Grand Boulevard

7:00 PM – Ready for a sit-down and relax, DELICIOUS dinner? We thought so. That’s why we recommend going to Garozzo’s for some of the best food you’ve ever had. Chicken Spiedini. ‘Nuff said.
526 Harrison Street

9:00 PM – Peanut butter and jelly. Andy and Barney Fife. Goats Milk and Zum Bars. KC and Jazz.

The Green Lady Lounge is a great place to relax and unwind while listening to some of the best jazz around.
1809 Grand Boulevard

The Reiger Hotel Grill & Exchange is a must-see and must-TASTE in Kansas City! After all, the Reiger’s motto is “Beautiful food for the people.” Need we say more? Go get your beautiful food and drinks, peeps!
1924 Main Street

11:30 PM – Depending on your style, you may be headed to your nice, warm bed by now. Get those Zzzz’s in! If you’re a night owl, your next move is Power & Light District. The range of pubs and bars there is big enough to fit anyone’s taste! And trust us, there’s a lot to taste!
